International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) marked

ADDI ABABA-24 May 2011, The International Day of Biological Diversity 2011 was marked at an event organized at the Ghion Hotel here yesterday .

President Girma Welde-Giorgis told the gathering ‘’We should ensure that development and biodiversity conservation are going supplementing and supporting each other.’ The president also said that besides striving to lay the country’s economy on a solid foundation, there should be different tasks to protect the name of economic activities.

Institute calls on public make sustain biodiversity

ADDIS ABABA-12 May 2011, The Institute of Biodiversity Conservation calls on the public and stake holders to contribute their share to protect and make sustain the biodiversity for its loss creates social, economic and environmental chaos.

Briefing journalists, concerning international day for biodiversity on the premises of the head office yesterday, representative of the institute, Dr. Kassahun Embaye said that the main aim of the celebration is raising the awareness of the public to conserve the endemic biodiversity.

United Nations Secretary-General Message for the International Day for Biodiversity

This year’s observance of the International Day for Biodiversity falls during the 2011 International Year of Forests, declared by the United Nations General Assembly to educate the global community about the value of forests and the extreme social, economic and environmental costs of losing them.
